FAQs
Got questions? We have answers! Here are some of our most frequently asked questions about booking our excursions. Of course, if you don't see your question here, don't hesitate to reach out and contact us!
How do I book?
You can book via our website, email, telephone or Facebook messenger. Alternatively pop into our office and we can book any excursions you are interested in! All our details are on the Contact Us section of our website.
When should I book?
Some tours such as the Shark Experience and Turtle Walks are very popular and it is recommended to book as soon as you have decided to join us, to avoid disappointment! Otherwise contact us as early as you wish or call in to our office and we can organise some fun activities for your holiday.
Can I pay on the day?
Yes! You can pay in cash when you arrive at the beginning of your excursion.
What currency can we pay in?
We accept Cape Verdean Escudos (ECV), Euros (€), Dollars ($) and GBP (£). We can also arrange bank transfer as payment if you contact us in advance.
Can I pay via Paypal?
Yes, we accept Paypal payments. Contact Us for Paypal details.
What equipment do we need to bring?
We provide all the equipment necessary for every excursion.
We always recommend you bring sun protection as the sun in Sal is strong, as well as cameras to capture the best of your excursion!
There are a few excursions (as listed below), where you will get wet, so swimwear and a towel are advised.
As our Seadoo Safari is a sea based snorkelling excursion, you will need to bring swimwear and a towel.
On our Shark Experience, our guests wade out into the water with sharks, therefore suitable clothes and a towel will be necessary. Sea shoes will also be required, but don’t worry if you don’t have any, there is the opportunity to hire suitable shoes at Shark Bay for €3.
As part of our Sal Island Tour we visit the crater of an extinct volcano and you have the opportunity to float in a therapeutic salt lake, so swimwear and a towel will be needed if you wish to take part in this activity.

Are we guaranteed to see the sharks, turtles and birds?
As these are nature excursions to see animals in their natural habitat we cannot guarantee that you will see the wildlife anticipated on your excursion. However, we have designed these excursions to maximise your chances of seeing all the wildlife advertised and it’s our belief that you will see the animals you are expecting to see.
What languages are the tours offered in?
Our tours are offered in English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch and Polish.
Where do we meet for excursions? Do you offer hotel pick up and drop off?
Yes! We meet guests at their hotel reception at the start of our excursions and drop them back at their hotel at the end of the excursion.
What vehicles will we be travelling in during our excursions?
Pick-up trucks are a common vehicle used for excursions here on Sal. However, guest safety and comfort are paramount at Explore Cape Verde, so we do not use pick-up trucks to transport our guests. We have several new air-conditioned minibuses that we use for our excursions. We also have a 4x4 and a Land Rover Defender that we may use for smaller groups. All our vehicles are suitably insured and regularly maintained. All our vehicles have seatbelts. At Explore Cape Verde all our drivers are suitably qualified, professional and trustworthy.

Do you offer group discount?
Yes, contact us and we can inform you of our group offers!
Do you have excursions for children and do they need to be accompanied by an adult?

We have also designed the Family Adventure and Family Turtle Walks especially for children. Children need to be accompanied by an adult at all times.
